First Penance

The Sacrament of Penance or Reconciliation (Latin re- "back" + conciliare "bring together") is one of spiritual cleansing. While we are cleansed from original sin in the Sacrament of Baptism, we are still capable of pulling away from God and His ways. Through the Sacrament of Penance and with repentance of heart, we have the opportunity to bring ourselves back to God and His Church, and receive His unconditional forgiveness.

Preparation for First Penance is available for those in the 2nd grade. Children receive the Sacrament of Penance prior to Confirmation and receiving their first communion. Children and parents come together for lessons and retreats. They also receive materials to complete at home.

It is required that families that are preparing for the reception of these sacraments participate in Emmaus
