Vocations Ministry

The main focus of the vocation ministry is to pray, promote, and support vocations to sacramental marriage, priesthood, diaconate, religious or consecrated single life. Aside from frequent prayers, we also seek out new initiatives to get the word out that God is calling people to offer their lives to His mission.

Our ministry began several years ago when Bishop Libasci invited members from all the parishes in the diocese to come to a day-long workshop in which it was made clear that the seeds to vocations begin not only in the soul of an individual but also with the prayers and encouragement of family and the parish. Many resources and suggestions were given to us to begin just the sort of vocation ministry that we have started at Christ the King.

Our ministry has organized the weekly vocation crucifix for parishioners to pray for vocations. We have also sponsored visits to the parish and to St. John Regional School by sisters, seminarians, and priests to promote vocations. Our Emmaus “family” has also written notes of encouragement to our seminarians over the past few years. We also encourage prayer and support for our pastor.

The Vocation Ministry would be delighted to have new members join us. We meet on the first Monday of the month from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm For more information, please contact Marie DeRosia at m49derosia@yahoo.com.
