Here at Christ the King we are a “Divine Renovation” Parish. In 2016, we joined an international network of parishes committed to renewal in the Church.

This renewal is based on the book Divine Renovation by Father James Mallon and the model that he developed as pastor of St. Benedict Parish in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The goal is to move from “Maintenance to Mission.” While we continue to maintain and care for the flock, we must be outward-focused, invitational, welcoming, and bringing others to Jesus.

The logo for Divine Renovation International is a key ring with three keys (see above). The key ring represents the Eucharist and Prayer. All that we do must be grounded in our worship of God through prayer and our participation in the Eucharist.

However, if we want to be missionary in spirit we must consider the importance of the three keys or principles:

  • The Power of the Holy Spirit

  • The Primacy of Evangelization

  • The Best of Leadership

Members of our staff recently attended the Divine Renovation Conference in Dallas, Texas, and have come back reenergized and committed to this process of renewal. Let us join together in prayer as a parish community, that we may become more engaged in renewal and more effective missionary disciples.
