Children’s Sacramental

Preparation

Our Vision

Sacramental Preparation at Christ the King is founded on our belief that parents are the primary and most important teachers of the faith. The parish exists to support you along that journey. In light of this, our program consists of catechesis for both parents and children. Both attend all preparation sessions and portions of the preparation will take place in the home, the domestic church.

“The role of parents in education is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitute” – Gravissimum Educationis, 1965

Commitment

Sacramental Preparation is a two-year program during which your child will receive First Reconciliation,
Confirmation, and First Communion. It is intended for ages 7 - 12.**

#1. Mass Attendance: The most important aspect of this preparation is weekly Mass attendance and is expected of all families.

"We go to Mass not simply because it’s an obligation. Rather, we attend Mass because it’s our loving response to the God who has loved us first. It is an active choice of the will to give of our time, treasure, and talent – knowing full well it will never amount to the sacrifice endured by our Savior." ~ Author Unknown

#2. Emmaus Participation: Families engage in the life of the parish through attendance at our monthly, whole community faith formation program, Emmaus. For the dates, more information, and to register, visit our Emmaus Page.

#3. Sacramental Preparation: Year 1 consists of preparing for and receiving First Reconciliation. Year 2 consists of preparing for and receiving Confirmation and First Communion.
